Civil Litigation

Civil Litigation

Runyowa Law focuses on civil litigation, which is essentially about resolving private disputes. Civil litigation includes the initiation and defence of lawsuits in a wide range of areas including those listed in our “Areas of Practice”.  Civil litigation can involve many steps: filing lawsuits, responding to lawsuits, filing and responding to interim court applications, drafting briefs of law, and attending court appearances.

In most cases, if you believe you have been wronged and want to file a lawsuit, you have two years from the date you discovered, or ought to have discovered, the wrongful conduct. In such cases, if you do not file your claim within this two-year period, you may lose your right to do so, including the right to any compensation you may have been entitled to. The two-year period is called the “limitation period”. In some cases, the limitation period may be less than two years depending on the issue and the area of law involved. Therefore, it is always important to determine the applicable limitation period in your case, which you could do with the guidance of a lawyer.
